On August 31, 2023, 235 outstanding delegates representing over 30,000 Duy Tan University students attended the 5th Congress of the Vietnam National Union of Students at Duy Tan University (2023–2028 term). This event marked an important milestone in student representation and participation in university governance, student support, and social engagement.
Distinguished Guests and Opening Remarks
The Congress welcomed Mr. Le Cong Hung, Vice President of the Vietnam National Union of Students, Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Youth Union, and Chairman of the Da Nang Student Union; Mr. Nguyen Huu Viet Cuong, Deputy Head of the School Youth Division of the Da Nang Youth Union; as well as Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Thanh Hai, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Standing Vice-Rector of Duy Tan University; and Dr. Tran Van Hung, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee. Former Student Union presidents and numerous excellent delegates representing thousands of Duy Tan students also attended.

In his speech, Mr. Le Cong Hung praised Duy Tan University’s contributions over the past 29 years in training high-quality human resources for the Central region, the Central Highlands, and the country as a whole. He emphasized that the 5th Student Union Congress was an important political event and a forum for young representatives to demonstrate their responsibility, enthusiasm, and intellect. He also expressed hope that the new Student Union leadership would propose innovative models and initiatives to further enhance student movements in Da Nang.
Strengthening Governance and Representation
The Congress was a key opportunity for student representatives to contribute input to the university’s governance process through discussions on education quality, welfare, and student development policies. Delegates also reviewed the performance of the previous term and set strategic directions for the Student Union’s activities, ensuring that student voices remain an integral part of university decision-making.
Recognition and Future Orientation
During the event, Mr. Le Cong Hung, Vice President of the Vietnam National Union of Students, presented the Excellent Emulation Flag to Duy Tan University for its five consecutive years (2018–2023) of outstanding achievements in student union work. The Congress also elected 27 members to the new Executive Committee for the 2023–2028 term, with Mr. Huynh Le Thai Bao serving as President.

Moving forward, the Union aims to continue empowering students to become socially responsible, innovative, and well-rounded individuals—upholding its mission to support, represent, and inspire the Duy Tan student community in alignment with the university’s long-term development goals.

For the 2023–2028 term, the Duy Tan University Student Union aims to nurture students with:
Strong political awareness, patriotism, and responsibility toward the nation.
Commitment to learning, scientific research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Moral integrity, cultural behavior, and a healthy lifestyle.
Knowledge, physical fitness, social skills, and a desire to contribute to society.
The Union will continue to build a strong organization that supports students’ academic and personal development, protects their legitimate rights, and contributes to the growth of both the Vietnam National Union of Students and the Da Nang Student Union.
Providing Support and Development Opportunities
During the 2018–2023 term, the Duy Tan University Student Union made notable achievements in supporting students’ academic and personal growth. The Union implemented initiatives to enhance student welfare, encourage research and innovation, and promote the “Five-Good Students” movement. The newly introduced 5tot.vn application was highlighted at the Congress as a tool to help students access opportunities for competitions, training, and networking—facilitating easier connection between students, businesses, and the wider community.
Promoting Social and Cultural Activities
The Student Union has also played a vital role in building a vibrant and inclusive student community. Through volunteer programs, cultural and artistic events, sports competitions, and charity initiatives, the Union has contributed to improving students’ well-being and fostering unity and social responsibility. Clubs such as DTU Acoustic, Volunteer Students, and the “Five-Good Students” Club have enriched student life and strengthened social connections across campus.
Conclusion
After two productive and dynamic working sessions, the 5th Congress of the Vietnam National Union of Students at Duy Tan University (2023–2028 term) concluded successfully. The Congress called for unity, creativity, and the integration of digital transformation and scientific innovation into study and research, expressing the determination of Duy Tan students to reach new heights and expand globally.
