The 9th Congress of the Duy Tan University Trade Union: Innovation - Democracy - Solidarity - Development

On the morning of June 10, 2023, the 9th Congress of the Duy Tan University Trade Union was successfully held under the theme “Innovation - Democracy - Solidarity - Development.” The event was attended by Mr. Le Van Dai, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City Federation of Labor and Labor Hero; Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co, Chairman of the Duy Tan University Council; together with a large number of trade union members from across the university.

Mr. Le Van Dai delivered a speech at the Congress of the Duy Tan University Trade Union and presented flowers to congratulate the Congress of the Duy Tan University Trade Union.

The Congress was organized to review and evaluate the Trade Union’s activities over the past term and to outline directions for future operations. The chosen theme—Innovation - Democracy - Solidarity - Development—reflected the union’s commitment to renewing its methods, promoting sustainable development of the university, and safeguarding the rights and needs of its members.

In his opening speech, Mr. Le Van Dai highly praised the efforts and achievements of the Duy Tan University Trade Union in recent years. He also emphasized the importance of effectively fulfilling the union’s representative function in caring for and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of lecturers and staff. He particularly encouraged proactive participation in developing internal mechanisms and policies to improve staff income.

 

During the 2017–2023 term, the Duy Tan University Trade Union collaborated closely with the university leadership to implement many practical activities for its members and employees. During the two years heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the university coordinated with medical facilities to organize vaccination campaigns for most lecturers, staff, and employees to ensure their health and safety. The university also actively engaged in numerous charitable and humanitarian activities, contributing nearly VND 600 million in total.

Various cultural and recreational activities were also organized to enhance the quality of life for lecturers and staff, including the annual Men’s Mini Football Tournament, the “Timeless Poetry and Music Night”, and the “Spiritual and Cultural Festival.”

During the Congress, delegates discussed and offered several suggestions, such as strengthening communication and education for trade union members, organizing more interactive and recreational activities to enhance members’ well-being, and fostering unity within the university community.

In conclusion, the Congress reached consensus on future orientations and implementation plans. It also elected the Executive Committee of the 9th Term (2023–2028) and delegates to attend the 17th Congress of the Da Nang City Federation of Labor (2023–2028 term).

The 9th Congress of the Duy Tan University Trade Union concluded successfully, leaving a strong impression of solidarity and sustainable development in the continued growth of the Duy Tan University Trade Union.
