Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all
Education is the foundation for improving people’s lives and sustainable development. Major progress has been made toward increasing access to education at all levels and improving literacy rates, particularly among women and girls.
However, despite these advances, about 260 million children were still out of school in 2018, and many who attend school lack basic literacy and numeracy skills. The COVID-19 pandemic further deepened the global education crisis, disproportionately affecting the most vulnerable populations.
The SDGs aim to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all by 2030. This includes improving teacher training, educational infrastructure, and access to affordable higher education.
