Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all
Access to safe and affordable drinking water is essential for human health and well-being. Although progress has been made in increasing access to clean water and sanitation, billions of people still lack these basic services.
Water scarcity affects more than 40% of the global population, and climate change is intensifying droughts and water stress in many regions. Contaminated water and poor sanitation cause diseases that claim thousands of lives each day, particularly among children.
The SDGs aim to ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all by 2030. This includes improving water-use efficiency, protecting freshwater ecosystems, expanding water infrastructure, and ensuring equitable access for vulnerable communities.
